I designed this ATypI London 2015 poster as part of a first-year degree project. It was one of my first introductions to typography and its history, representing the first point of contact where my interest for this subject started. I chose London as the location for its rich history and central hub in the UK for cultural diversity. The Queen’s head, an iconic figure of Britain, was chosen to symbolise the location with the letter scramble delivering the background context of the conference in one quick glance.
As part of my process, experimenting with lino print letters allowed me to get a deeper understanding of composition play. This led to my final letter positioning in the form of the Queen’s head.
